The leather of this shoe has a moss green lined pattern, and a relief print is added in the shape of geometric scales. Afterwards, the leather is put on the tannery table and colour nuances are added manually. A tannery employee uses a sponge with white lacquer to lightly graze over the leather, touching only the tops of the scales and adding the lacquer there. The derby lacing of this shoe is suitable for every type of foot, yet offers a bit more room to slightly wider feet. The profile sole is made of durable grey TPU material. The layered leather heel with its dovetail joint adds a luxurious touch. The inside of the shoe is finished with high-quality calf leather lining. The sole is stitched through in the typical Blake make.

"A piece of unique Italian craftsmanship"

Floris about this item:

“The special thing about this material is that each leather hide is completely processed and checked twice by hand. First, the leather gets its base colour. Then, we print the scale relief pattern on it, which is relatively simple. After that, we apply a layer of paint. And then it's time to start. In the tannery, we place the leather on a table. An employee "washes" the higher parts of the scales with a sponge and solvent. Doing this, we remove the layer in these places to reveal the underlying base colour again. This creates a beautiful shadow effect of the individual scales. If you wash them too much, the leather is completely colourless, but if you wash it too little, it simply remains black. When the leather has dried, it is moved to another table. Worker number two gets to work with another sponge. This work requires even more precision. The sponge is carefully dipped into a thin layer of white paint. The tips of the scales are now dabbed very carefully with the sponge. If you look closely at the leather, as in the photo, you can see that each scale has a thin white border at the tip. You can probably imagine how quickly that can go wrong. So here we have a piece of unique Italian craftsmanship that makes my cobbler's heart beat faster. And that's just a brief summary of how the leather is made...”
