Community involvement

Schoenfabriek Van Bommel supports a range of social, cultural, sporting and charitable initiatives as a donor, sponsor and organiser. Below, we describe some of these activities.

Van Bommel Foundation

The Van Bommel Foundation was established in 2026. The foundation continues the Beyond Barriers project, launched by Schoenfabriek Van Bommel in 2025. The project focuses on the Batwa community in and around Rubuguri, Uganda. Support includes scholarships for children, meals and school supplies, basic healthcare, hygiene education and assistance during pregnancy and childbirth. Extracurricular activities are also organised, and participating families receive local support.

Schoenfabriek Van Bommel funds the project's ongoing activities through an annual contribution. The foundation also raises additional funds for other initiatives within the community. The Beyond Barriers project has an initial five-year term, from 2025 through 2029. More information about its activities, funding and expenditure can be found on the Van Bommel Foundation website.

Other community activities

Each year, Van Bommel employees can choose to donate their Christmas gift package to charity. For every package donated, Van Bommel contributes five times its value to the Van Bommel Foundation. Van Bommel regularly organises publicity campaigns in partnership with charities. Examples include fundraising campaigns for the Dutch Burns Foundation, Dierenopvang Hart van Brabant animal shelter and the Philipp Lahm Foundation.

Van Bommel is also a regular sponsor of local initiatives with which the company or its employees have a connection. These include sports clubs, tournaments, choirs, four-day walking events, local history societies, Epiphany singing traditions, carnival associations, student associations, educational programmes, churches and Stichting Hofleveranciers in Nederland. Schoenfabriek Van Bommel's management is regularly invited to speak at seminars and conferences. The fees received for these talks are donated to various charities.
