“Every six months, we visit the Santa Croce sull‘Arno tannery that designed this patent leather. We always look forward to this visit. Obviously, this is because we get to see all the new patent leathers, but perhaps even more so because of the owner’s Italian absentmindedness. He is a dapper man, always wearing vintage sneakers, with a high voice and coke-bottle glasses, and completely restless. Whenever I ask a question, he immediately answers with a “yes” in a very strong Italian accent before I even finish. Everything is “Yes, yesssse, si, yes”. After his “yes”, I usually repeat my question slowly three times and when he finally gets what I mean, he reacts is as if he just witnessed the holy Pater Pio’s miracle. “Ahhhhh! So, you mean…” That’s how it goes all the time. With this notched patent leather, our good friend understood what we wanted. In his dust-free cabins, he created amazing patent leather for us.”
